Songfacts®:

  • This dance banger combines MK's signature piano-house style production with the pop sensibility of the DJ's producer friend Jonas Blue and the powerful vocals and soulful songwriting of Becky Hill.
  • This is MK's first collaboration with Jonas Blue. However, he previously worked with Becky Hill on his "Piece of Me" single as well as his remix of Rudimental's "Powerless" track.
  • Jonas told iHeart Radio that Becky Hill is one of his favorite artists to work with so when her record label sends him an a demo with her vocals "it goes to the top of the list."
  • This song came about when Sony sent MK a Becky Hill vocal with production by Jonas Blue. Seeing her name on the demo, MK immediately started working on what they'd come with. However, he was also starting his summer tour, so the producer only had a couple of hours spare here and there to work on the instrumentation. It took him four months to complete his production.
  • "Back and Forth" was included on Becky Hill's 2019 career-spanning compilation record Get to Know.
