Songfacts®:

  • A "Shotta" is Jamaican slang for a gangsta who is prepared to shoot anyone who needs to be killed. Rappers use the term to describe their life on the streets and willingness to use their shooters. MoneyBagg Yo's fellow Memphis rapper Nle Choppa, for instance, released a series of "Shotta Flows."
  • On this hard-charging cut, Moneybagg Yo talks about his early years trapping in his South Memphis hood.

Doctor, servin' patients, I'm a trapper
Roster, I been runnin' with some shottas

He shouts out NLE Choppa, playing on his name to say he's carrying a gun (Chopper).

Smokin' sharklato in a fishbowl wearin' Prada
Got a drank bottle from the doctor, ridin' with a NLE Choppa
  • MoneyBagg Yo's go-to producer YC came up with the instrumentation, which inspired the rapper to create a completely new flow. "I was in the studio just joking around," he told Apple Music. "It was me and the guys, we was just in there just kicking it and YC just comes in there playing beats. I was like, 'Man, what the hell is this?' This is one of them type of vibes you just - it don't matter what you say, just go in that joint and just say whatever comes to mind."
