  • Monstro Vocal is the stage name of Gabriel Bonilha, a Brazilian musician influenced by both country and rock and roll. He's also a popular vocal coach.

He told Songfacts the story behind "Once Upon A Fiction":

"One day I was alone with my guitar, looking for some song inspirations, and one of them was Seasick Steve - 'Walkin' Man.' It was a live performance, and Steve took one girl from the crowd to sit on his side to play a song for her. This act was so simple and strong at same time.

I start imagining a scene, a serenade of two lovers in a chaotic post-apocalyptic situation, in a universe of hate and abomination between couples' love, so I wrote this song because nowadays, many couples pass by traumas in relationships, and many of them are afraid to love again (by the way I always trust in love).

The message I want to pass is hope and straight to pass through this, and yes, there's love when you fight for it. Pain and love walk together, we just need to deal with it. There's no happiness if you don't live sadness in one period of your life - it's like darkness and light, they need each other to exist.
  • Directed by Celso Marques Jr., the music video shows an injured woman and her male protector. They encounter three female warriors, and it doesn't end well for the guy. Monstro Vocal explains what's going on: "We created this imaginary world in the clip. It's an apocalyptic end of the world where most of the human survivors are women who decided the few men alive don't deserve to live anymore and started to haunt them. These women created a group to haunt men but one of the girls in the group, Sara, fell in love with one of these prisoner men (Wade character). The romantic couple decides to escape away from the haunting.
