Songfacts®:

  • You're like candy, baby, hard, sweet and sticky. Yeah, right, she gets the message, but so was George Formby's little stick of Blackpool rock.

The sixth track on the eponymous debut album by Montrose runs 5:05 and is a group composition: drummer Denny Carmassi, bass player Bill Church, then vocalist Sammy Hagar, and the man himself, Ronnie Montrose. After Hagar left the band he continued to play the song - it remains to be seen why. Its inspiration appears to have been the Led Zepellin track "When The Levee Breaks," in particular Carmassi's experimenting with the drum introduction. >>>

  • Josh from Champaign, IlJust listening to this and it occurred to me, I'm wondering if the guitar solo passage starting at about 3:17 was inspiration for the solo on Faith No More's Epic? If it is, I like what FNM did with it!!
  • Joe from Grants Pass, OrDenny Carmassi -- Love his tone, and glad to have him in our little valley !!!!
