Songfacts®:

  • Here, Morgan Wallen reflects on an old flame that he just can't get out of mind. Even though he's lying in bed "holding someone new," the singer is still chasing his ex "like a shot of whiskey."
  • Wallen wrote the song with Craig Wiseman and Jamie Moore back in 2016. It was one of the first songs Wallen wrote after arriving in Nashville from small town Tennessee. He told American Songwriter: "I knew that I could sing, but I didn't have a clue if I could write songs. 'Chasin' You' really propelled me and gave me a lot of confidence that I might be able to do it."
  • The video, shot in black and white, shows Walden driving around Nashville in a convertible, still thinking about the girl he used to know. Music City star Rachyl Degman plays his love interest. "I liked something about her eyes," Wallen told Taste of Country. "I just liked something about her eyes and how they drew me in, so I wanted her eyes to do that to the camera."
  • When Morgan Wallen left his East Tennessee hometown to chase his dreams in Nashville, his girlfriend remained back home. This tale of lost love is an autobiographical account of that experience.

"This song is pretty special to me because it was one of the first songs I wrote when I moved here," he told ABC Audio. "Just about something I was going through, and it kind of helped me get through it."
