Songfacts®:

  • This song was originally called "Who's Cheating Who?" Written by guitarist Mick Ralphs and lead singer Ian Hunter, it started life as "a godawful country song." According to the band's official biography, the title sounds better than the moon in the sky but it meant nothing really, although it took on a different meaning in the angry last verse.
  • This was broadcast on Sounds Of The Seventies on November 4, 1971 where Ian Hunter's vocal expletive in the final line was replaced by a humorous cough. >>
