Songfacts®:

  • This seven-minute plus funk track was the only ever song recorded by a Minneapolis band called Music, Love and Funk (or MLF). However, it's true significance lies in its session guitarist, an 18-year-old named Prince Nelson, as it holds the distinction of being the Purple Legend's first released recording.

A little while after his guitar contribution, Prince signed a recording contract with Warner Brothers. His first album, For You, was released on April 7, 1978.
  • The bassist on this song was Sonny T. (born Sonny Thompson) who later was a member of The New Power Generation, Prince's recording and stage band, from 1991–1996.
  • The song can be found on Numero Group's 2013 compilation of Twin Cities tracks. Purple Snow: Forecasting the Minneapolis Sound.
