Songfacts®:

  • Lead singer Dappy wrote this song after his father (who he called B) suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 49, shortly before the band were signed to new label All Around the World. Byron Contostavlos was not only Dappy's dad but also bandmate Tulia's uncle. In the 1970s he played bass for Mungo Jerry ("In The Summertime") and he used his knowledge of the music business to help get N-Dubz heard on the radio. Dappy explained to The Sun April 28, 2009 that he wrote this song "for him and we played it at his funeral. B was everything to me - a driver, a manager, an accountant, a lawyer and a father. He would also give us advice on the music industry, as he'd been there before us. He knew it would be tough but he always had faith in us."
  • N-Dubz titled their debut album Uncle B in tribute to Byron.
