Songfacts®:

  • Nathan Dawe joins forces with fellow UK DJ Joel Corry and singer-songwriter Ella Henderson for this dancefloor destroyer. Dawe came up the idea for the song's lyrical concept while blazing through his 2022 summer tour, and he manifested the vision alongside Corry and Henderson. He released it as a single on June 9, 2023.
  • Back in spring 2023, Henderson was doing a writing camp with Nathan Dawe, and it was there the pair wrote the song. "This has happened very, very fast," Henderson revealed to Planet Radio. "The next thing you know he's (Nathan) sent it to Joel, Joel rings me and he's like, 'I want to come on it, we've got to do it together', and then, here we are, it's happening!"
  • "0800 Heaven" is the first collaboration between Nathan Dawe and Joel Corry. Dawe previously collaborated with Ella Henderson on the 2020 tune "Lighter" and 2022 single "21 Reasons."
  • Dawe, Corry and Henderson wrote the song with Joe Barbe, Little Mix songwriter Maegan Cottone, and Punctual, an electronic music duo comprising Will Lansley and John Morgan. Cottone and Punctual also worked with Dawe and Henderson on "21 Reasons."
  • The song delves into the depths of a devastating breakup. Henderson wonders if her ex would express his love to her from beyond if he were to die. If he had a chance to make a phone call from heaven, would she be the one he would ring? "0800 Heaven" culminates with Henderson leaving him a tearful answering machine message.
  • While Corry and Dawe hadn't joined forces musically before, their friendship runs deep. Corry told Planet Radio that a collaboration with Dawe had long been on his mind. "I just thought, maybe the project could be called Corry Dawe," he said. "That is actually pretty sick."
  • Joel Corry included "0800 Heaven" on his compilation album Another Friday Night, released on July 14, 2023.
