Songfacts®:

  • This is the lead single by Pop and R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo, from his fifth studio album. The long player was originally titled 'The Cracks in Mr. Perfect' before Ne-Yo changed it to R.E.D, which stands for "Realising Every Dream," both positive and negative. Several months previously Game released The R.E.D. album, but Ne-Yo denied that he had jacked the title of the Compton rapper's record. He told TMZ: "No... I don't feel like I ripped off The Game's album... as I was doing the album, The Cracks in Mr Perfect just didn't make sense any more, it didn't fit any more... however, R.E.D Realizing Every Dream - did."

He added: "It actually wasn't even brought to my attention that that was the name of The Game's last album until I came up with the name."
