  • Diamond wrote this with David Foster, whose hits include "Through The Fire" and "Hard to Say I'm Sorry." For most of his career, Diamond was a very solitary songwriter, but in the '80s he got some help with his compositions. Other tracks on the album, including the E.T. inspired "Heartlight," were written with Carole Bayer Sager and Burt Bacharach. "I'm Alive" was inspired by the sense of dread riding with Bacharach to the studios on Sunset Boulevard.
