Songfacts®:

  • This slice of electro rock was produced by influential New York DJ Arthur Baker ("Planet Rock"). As a result it was recorded in New York, a first for the band. The 12-inch single was a crossover hit on the US dance charts, and established a relationship between Baker and New Order that has continued for over two decades.
  • The song is unique for having both normal New Order bassist Peter Hook and vocalist Bernard Sumner playing bass guitars on it.
  • The video was shot in the New York club the Funhouse, which was a Puerto Rican club. "It was a bit hairy in there," Sumner laughed to Q magazine. "There was a wild atmosphere."
