Songfacts®:

  • "ETA" is a lively Baltimore club track that combines funky, choppy air horns and brisk drum breaks, all the while maintaining a soothing melody. The song is a great example of NewJeans' sound, a blend of pop, hip-hop and club music.
  • The Korean verses and English chorus revolve around NewJeans' friend's unfaithful boyfriend. The girls encourage Eva to end the relationship, describing in the pre-chorus the numerous times he has been caught cheating. They sing about his constant presence with other girls and even recall him appearing at Hyejin's birthday party dressed to the nines. NewJeans also touch on how Jiwon broke up with his girlfriend after catching her with Eva's boyfriend.
  • "ETA" stands for estimated time of arrival.

All I need is you on my side
We can go whenever you like
    Now, where are you?
What's your ETA? What's your ETA?

In the chorus, NewJeans ask their friend what their ETA is, meaning when they will arrive. They remind her she's not alone and are there to support her.
  • NewJeans performed "ETA" for the first time during their Bunnies Camp fan meeting concert in Seoul on July 1, 2023. They released it as a single from their second EP, Get Up, on July 21, 2023.
  • A collaboration with Apple, the video was shot entirely on an iPhone 14 Pro and filmed in Barcelona. It opens with NewJeans video-calling a friend while at a pool party. They break the news that her boyfriend is flirting with another person. Throughout the rest of the clip, the girl group periodically keep her informed while performing the song.
