Songfacts®:

  • Nightcrawlers is a dance music project assembled by Glaswegian producer, DJ and vocalist, John Reid. In 1992 he released the original version of "Push The Feeling On" without any commercial success.

Two years later, American producer Marc Kinchen (now known as MK) revamped the track, transforming it from its original R&B/disco sound into a more up-to-date '90s house track. His "Dub of Doom" remix reached #22 on the UK singles chart in 1994.

A few months later, The Nightcrawlers released a revised remix from Kinchen entitled the "MK Dub Revisited Edit." This version became an international hit, including peaking at #3 in the UK and topping Billboard's US dance chart.
  • Several artists have sampled MK's remix of "Push The Feeling On" into hit songs. It was the basis of Pitbull's 2009 global single "Hotel Room Service," and five years later, the British house duo Waze & Odyssey's UK hit remix of R. Kelly's "Bump N' Grind" borrowed from the track. In late April 2020, two UK acts released singles that sample the MK Dub remix of "Push The Feeling On": Mist and Fredo's "House Party" and AJ Tracey and MoStack's " Dinner Guest." The following year British DJ and producer Riton united with John Reid for "Friday," which samples both the Nightcrawlers original version of "Push the Feeling On" and MK's house remix.
  • Following the success of Kinchen's "Push The Feeling" remix, Reid continued to work closely with the American producer. His next four singles, which all featured Kinchen remixes, reached the UK Top 40.
  • While Reid continued his Nightcrawlers project, he also carved a successful separate career as a songwriter in his own right. His credits include Tina Turner's 1999 hit single "When The Heartache Is Over," Westlife's 2002 UK #1 "Unbreakable," and Kelly Clarkson's US chart-topper "A Moment Like This."
