Songfacts®:

  • The video for this song follows Nina Persson through the streets of New York on her way to buy a carton of milk while a frenzy of activity goes on around her, including twirling backup dancers and scenery and costume changes. Persson, a native of Sweden, has become a bonafide New Yorker in the past decade. She lives in Harlem with her husband (and oft co-writing partner) Nathan Larson and son Nils.
  • Persson listened to a lot of '80s Pop during the production of the Animal Heart album, which is reflected in the lead single with its retro synth beat. The results caught her and co-writers Eric D. Johnson and Nathan Larson off guard. In our interview with Nina, she explained: "We started to write the song and it actually has just a little more action than what we thought... even some beats and some energy. But it was really fun because I got surprised by it. And we started at that end and then we just followed a trail of what we were heavily doing."
