Songfacts®:

  • Noah Gundersen wrote "Jealous Love," the eighth track on his sophomore album, Carry the Ghost, in 2012. In our interview with Gundersen, he revealed to us what inspired the song: "I had come out of a relationship. I was starting to think about a new relationship and the things that hadn't worked in the previous one. Wanting something better, not wanting a jealous partner, and just wanting my romantic life to evolve instead of being stagnant and just repeating the same mistakes."
  • The title appears only in the opening sentence of the song:

I don't want no jealous love
Honey, I've had enough of it
All my life bringing me down

The second verse and chorus demonstrate Gundersen hoping this new relationship will blossom into something better than his preceding one:

    I don't want to be a crutch
Honey, or take too much from you or you from me
I'll never be your shining knight
    Honey, your mister right
But I will do all I can to be your man

I want it better than I've ever had
    I want it better than
So give me the good times
    Give me the bad
I want it better than I've ever had
