Songfacts®:

  • Punk rock is a haven for the misfits and the misunderstood, but it has also attracted an unwanted element that is anything but accepting: skinheads and white nationalists. "Kill All The White Man" mocks these unwanted fans who ruin it for everyone. "This song is for all those f--ked up skinheads and Nazis in Germany," El Hefe of NOFX says in the documentary 10 Years Of.... "Because they're all white, they think they're better."
  • Most NOFX songs were written solo by frontman Fat Mike, but "Kill All The White Man" he wrote with guitarist El Hefe (Aaron Abeyta), who was new to the group, replacing Steve Kidwiler in 1991. Remarkably, this was the last lineup change for NOFX, which stayed active until 2024.
  • El Hefe brought a new sound to the band that first shows up on this track: a trumpet. He was hired as a guitarist but brought his old trumpet from his high school band days on tour and would play it from time to time. Fat Mike liked the sound and encouraged him to work it into some of their songs. It became a distinctive part of the NOFX sound - there weren't many punk bands with a trumpet player.
  • El Hefe sings lead on this one, which has a reggae sound for most of the song before going fast and loud at the end as "kill all the white man" is repeated over and over.
  • This is part of the NOFX EP The Longest Line, their first wide release on Fat Mike's Fat Wreck Chords label. The band was signed to Epitaph Records but had the freedom to release music on other labels as well. After seeing what their 1989 album S&M Airlines sold on Epitaph, Mike figured he could turn a profit by issuing The Longest Line on his own label, so with a load from his dad, he made it happen - very DIY punk.

Fat Wreck Chords ended up being very successful, not only with NOFX releases but with many other bands as well. Rise Against, Rancid and Anti-Flag are some of the many bands on the label at one time or another.
