Songfacts®:

  • Norah Jones closes her Pick Me Up Off The Floor album with his hopeful mediation. It was one of four songs she wrote with her pal Jeff Tweedy in Chicago. Another of their collaborations, "I'm Alive," also made it onto the record. She told Apple Music:

"I had this song in my head before I went to Chicago, but I loved the way it came out after working with Jeff. There's something meditative about it that works as the last song. It's a little bit like a benediction, if you go to church. A nice closing moment."
  • The mood of Pick Me Up Off The Floor is downcast at times, but it becomes more upbeat towards the end of the album, climaxing with "Heaven Above." "It was a big sequencing job, bigger than on other albums of mine," Jones told The Sun. "I definitely wanted an upswing at the end."

She added regarding "Heaven Above": "Even if it's a slow one, it has that sense of hope you want in life. No matter how bleak it is, you never want to lose that."
