Songfacts®:

  • Octavian Oliver Godji was born in Lille, France to an Angolan family. He moved to South London with his mother aged three following the death of his father.

Octavian won a scholarship to the prestigious Brit School, whose alumni include Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, and Adele. He dropped out after a year and a half and endured periods of homelessness while working on his rap music. It was Drake who put him in the spotlight after releasing a video of him in January 2018 singing along to "Party Here" single at a Golden Globes after party.

Octavian signed with Sony/ATV Records later that year, but his big breakthrough came when he was announced as the winner of BBC Music's Sound Of poll for 2019. The South London rapper followed in the footsteps of Adele, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith in securing the prestigious accolade.
  • This vibrant, free-flowing anthem finds Octavian speaking on life lessons he's learned on his life journey. "The concept of 'Fame' should be connected to the celebration of one's achievements," he explained in a press release. "Unfortunately nowadays it is the glamorization of unthought-about entertainment."
  • Gunna and Saint Jhn join Octavian on the track. It's the rapper's second successive stateside collaboration following his Future-featuring single "Rari (Chapter 1)."
  • The bouncy Jae5-produced, Afrobeats-flavored track was inspired by a trip to Nigeria. When Octavian returned to London, he decided to incorporate an African influence into his sound.
