Songfacts®:

  • Here, Nigerian Afro-Fusion artist Omah Lay joins forces with Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber for a treat-me-nice plea. Both singers are trapped in a relationship where they're starved of love and attention. Tempted to resort to alcohol or weed to numb the pain, they entreat their lovers to show them some affection, trust and passion.
  • Omah Lay created the song in the studio with Bieber producer Harv during his second trip to Los Angeles. "As soon as I heard the beat, the lyrics were already in my head," he told Billboard. "We didn't even spend 30 minutes making the song."

Harv called Bieber, and Omah FaceTimed the Canadian pop star for the first time in his life. Later on, Harv played the song for him, and before he knew it, the Biebs had sent them his verse.
  • This is the second time Omah has linked up with Bieber. The Canadian pop star previously added Omah and fellow Nigerian singer-songwriter Alpha P on the "Masterkraft Remix" of his hit single "Peaches."
  • Harv and Dutch producer Avedon (6ix9ine's "Kika," Chloe x Halle's "Do It") created the lively and sensual Afrobeats crossover production.
  • Bieber has form for dipping his toes into Afrobeat waters. As well as recruiting the two Nigerians for his Masterkraft Remix of "Peaches," he recruited Afrofusion star Burna Boy for his Justice track "Loved by You" and jumped on the remix of Wizkid's "Essence," featuring Tems.

"That's my favorite style right now, I'm loving the African beats, it makes you want to move and people need to move," Bieber told Vogue.
