Songfacts®:

  • Orgy lead singer Jay Gordon wrote the lyric to "107" when he was on the road staying in Room 107 of a hotel, which is where the title comes from. "I was in a bar, sitting there listening to this guy saying crazy things to this girl that he was trying to pick up," he said in a Songfacts interview. "I don't understand why guys do that. I wanted to hold up cue cards for the guy, like, No, bro. You're blowing it!"
  • "107" wasn't released as a single, but Jay Gordon considers it one of the best Orgy songs. "I like the foundation of it and it's kind of funny," he told Songfacts. "I like the tempo of the song."
  • The song is part of Orgy's second album, Vapor Transmission. They had quite a ride in the late '90s, forming in Los Angeles in 1997, landing a record deal with Korn's imprint soon after, then releasing their debut album Candyass, in 1998. Their cover of "Blue Monday" got a lot of attention, and the band embodied a certain gothic cool that made them very intriguing. They made a lot of famous friends in Los Angeles and got invited to many fashionable events. Their sound, though, was somewhere between nu-metal and industrial, and only held so much appeal in LA.

Vapor Transmission did fairly well but didn't put up the numbers of Candyass. After another album, they broke up in 2005. When Gordon got the band back together in 2011 it was with an entirely new lineup.
