Songfacts®:

  • Orianthi wrote this song with her Heaven In This Hell producer Dave Stewart. She recalled to MusicRadar.com: "We were sitting around, and we wanted to do something filthy and bluesy, and so there you go – Filthy Blues. [Laughs] I wanted it to be trippy, as well, so we experimented with sounds and came up with this cool musical treatment."
  • Lyrically, the song finds Orianthi in a hotel room. "I'm done with relationships," she explained, "and I'm just going to stay with my guitar. It's a one-night stand with the filthy blues. It always comes back to the blues [laughs]. Music is the one constant I have in my life."
  • Orianthi plays one of Stewart's 12-string acoustics in the middle of the song. She told MusicRadar: "It was always the idea to have the acoustic there and have it sound like me in my hotel room, just playing to myself. We were going for a Robert Johnson vibe."
