Songfacts®:

  • "Straight To Hell" is an anti-drug anthem where Ozzy Osbourne takes listeners to the heart of darkness.

I'll make you lie, I'll make you steal and kill
I'll make you crawl until your final thrill

The full-on rocker outlines without empathy the effects of a deadly substance, something Ozzy knew about all too well.
  • Ozzy kicks off the devilish ride by yelling "Alright now!" The phrase will remind fans of the 1971 Black Sabbath classic "Sweet Leaf," which ironically is a pro-drug track.
  • Slash is credited as a featured artist thanks to his soaring guitar solo. "Straight to Hell" also features Slash's Guns N' Roses bandmate Duff McKagan on bass and Red Hot Chili Peppers stickman Chad Smith on the pounding drums.
  • The song's music video finds Ozzy siting center stage in the middle of a pitched street battle between angry demonstrators and riot-gear-wearing police. It's not clear what exactly is being protested, but various signs read "I'm Grounded For Life," "Stop premature Christmas decorating" and "The Devil Is My Best Friend."
