Songfacts®:

  • This upbeat, horn-blasted jam is a love letter to ambition. Frontman Brendon Urie told Q magazine: "That song, for me, it's about nothing ever been good enough, never been able to be content. I like to stay hungry. It keeps it exciting."
  • The beginning of this song ("To the old, and to the new, we rededicate this song to you") is a sample of "Oh What A Nite," a 1956 hit for the vocal group The Dells.
  • "(F--- A) Silver Lining" is the opening track on the sixth Panic! At The Disco album, Pray For The Wicked, by this time, the band was a Brendon Urie solo project, so he got a lot of help from outside writers and producers. Morgan Kibby, who records as White Sea, wrote this one with Urie along with the track's producers, Scott Chesak and Jake Sinclair. Johnny Funches and Marvin Junior of The Dells, who wrote "Oh What A Nite," are also credited as writers.
