Songfacts®:

  • This song is about the pressure of being a teenager. The video, directed by Shane Drake ("Misery Business," "Emergency"), deals with a young couple who dislike their jobs. The boy works at a fast food restaurant where he receives poor treatment. The girl is a model who is refused things that she enjoys (picking her own dress, eating chocolate, etc.). Eventually the boy quits his job and goes to meet his girlfriend, but she is busy preparing for a photo shoot. The boy decides to set off the sprinklers in the building. Everyone in the building rushes out, except for the girl, who stays in her chair enjoying the water. The boy and girl manage to get out and the video ends.
  • "Pressure" was released on August 2, 2005, as Paramore's debut single from their debut album, All We Know Is Falling. While it didn't make it onto the Billboard Hot 100, the song found a footing on the digital charts, reaching #62 on Billboard Hot Digital Songs.
  • The story behind the album's iconic red couch is a classic example of making something out of nothing. For their first official band photo shoot, the band came across an abandoned red couch in an Orlando lot. Instead of ignoring it, they dragged the old piece of furniture over and created one of the most recognizable album covers of the 2000s pop-punk/emo era. The photo, featuring the thrifted couch and shot by their friend, is an enduring symbol of their early DIY spirit.
