  • The CN Tower, for those unfamiliar, is Toronto's way of saying, "Look at me." At a vertigo-inducing 553.3 meters (or 1,815.3 feet), it's been looming over the city's skyline since the mid-1970s. The tower held the title of the world's tallest free-standing structure until 2007, when the Burj Khalifa surpassed it. But even without that record, it remains a Toronto icon: beloved, towering, and occasionally lit up in colors that make you wonder if someone's just been having fun with a giant mood ring.

Drake, a man who has never been shy about his Toronto roots, has long been fond of the CN Tower. He famously perched on top of it (at least in Photoshop form) for the cover of his 2016 album Views. In this collaboration with PartyNextDoor, the landmark becomes a metaphor for the ups and downs of a turbulent relationship. Because, much like Toronto weather and Drake's love life, the CN Tower's lights are always changing.
  • "CN Tower" opens the PartyNextDoor and Drake collaborative album Some Sexy Songs 4 U, released in February 2025. The slow, melodic R&B song introduces the album's themes of love, reflection, and emotional complexity, setting the stage for Drake's return to the R&B genre alongside PartyNextDoor's signature sound.
  • Produced by Noel Cadastre, Kid Masterpiece and Prep Bijan, the track is a warm reintroduction to Drake's softer side.

Cadastre, an OVO mainstay, has been working with Drake for years, helping to shape the sonic landscape of his music.

Kid Masterpiece has lent his touch to several other Drake tracks, including "Major Distribution," "Seeing Green" and "On The Radar Freestyle."

Milwaukee-born producer and songwriter Prep Bijan contributed to four tracks on PartyNextDoor's 2024 PartyNextDoor 4 album.
  • Just when you think the song is settling into its sultry groove, at 2:32 a sample from Lil Wayne's 2008 hit "Lollipop" kicks in, a callback to the man who put Drake on the map.
