Songfacts®:

  • PartyNextDoor and Drake released their collaborative album Some Sexy Songs 4 U on Valentine's Day 2025. The project was Drake's first full-length release since his highly publicized rap battle with Kendrick Lamar - a feud so intense that, for a time, it seemed like hip-hop's version of an old-fashioned medieval siege. While there are a few pointed jabs aimed at K-Dot on "Gimme A Hug," the overall approach is, it never happened.

Instead, for a sprawling 21 tracks and 74 minutes, Drake and PND do what they do best: crafting songs about love, lust and heartbreak. "Something About You," like the others, find their attention fixed firmly on the ladies.
  • On "Something About You," PartyNextDoor and Drake sweet-talk their lover, attempting to coax them into some very R-rated activities. PND, in particular, sounds ready to toss caution (and NDAs) to the wind in the name of intimacy.
  • The album's title comes directly from one of PartyNextDoor's lyrics in this song:

There's just somethin' about you, baby
All of these songs are for you
    Sexy songs for you

The lyric encapsulates the project's overarching theme of sultry, slow-burning R&B designed for late-night listening.
  • When Some Sexy Songs 4 U was released, PartyNextDoor was romantically involved with model Corri Moore. This, of course, raises the strong possibility that "Something About You," along with other tracks on the album, was either inspired by, dedicated to, or at the very least heavily influenced by her. Given the album's overarching themes of desire, devotion, and emotional turbulence, one can imagine Moore listening to these songs with either a pleased smile or a raised eyebrow, depending on the lyric in question.
  • A little hometown pride also makes its way into the "Something About You" mix. PartyNextDoor gives a nod to "Sauga," a shortened form of Mississauga, the Canadian city he calls home:

    Sauga-city trip, yeah

This line is a direct callback to "Preach," his 2015 collaboration with Drake, where he raps:

    Sauga-city trip, the payday
  • The album's artwork pays further tribute to Mississauga. The cover shows Drake (left) and PartyNextDoor (right) standing together in a swirling snowstorm in front of the city's Absolute World towers, both draped in oversized fur coats. It's the kind of imagery that suggests both wealth and winter-induced melancholy: hallmarks of any good Drake project.
  • Kiyoshi, Livewire, London Cyr, Nyan, Reemz, and Vawn all contributed to the track's lush, atmospheric soundscape, layering moody R&B textures with soft keys and a steady rhythm. All six producers played keyboards on the song, making it a true collective effort. This was the only Some Sexy Songs 4 U track most of them contributed to. The exception is Nyan, who also co-produced "Brian Steel."

One standout name is Canadian producer London Cyr, who has worked on several previous Drake tracks ("It's Up," "No Face," "Circadian Rhythm"). He's also worked with Travis Scott ("Can't Say") and Don Toliver ("Outerspace").
