Songfacts®:

  • Here, PartyNextDoor is questioning the commitment of his girlfriend to their relationship. He has made mistakes in the past but now recognizes she's the only girl for him. "If I propose, would you say no," the singer asks.
  • Rihanna croons the chorus of the punchy R&B ballad; she tells PartyNextDoor he needs to earn her trust so she can believe in their connection.
  • Rihanna sent her vocals on March 23, 2020, just four days before the release of Partymobile. Up until that point, the song featured placeholder vocals from PND's girlfriend. "You're a young kid waiting for that present, you wake up, and it's just there," co-producer NinetyFour told Rolling Stone of his and fellow producer Bizness Boi's choice not to ask PND to send over a preview of the final "Believe It" ahead of its release.
  • The song is the first new music to feature Rihanna since she appeared on N.E.R.D's November 2017 track "Lemon."
  • This is the first time PartyNextDoor has paired up with Rihanna for a vocal collaboration, although he has writing credits on several of her songs, including "Work" and "Sex With Me ."
