  • The Paul Stanley here is, in fact, the man from Kiss. It's surprising to hear him crooning soul music, but that's always been a passion of his. He wasn't able to pursue it when Kiss was busy, but in 2015 he put together a band called Soul Station that performed cover songs of soul classics. They released their first album in 2021, and while most of the songs are the covers they refined in their show, "Save Me (From You)" is an original, written by Stanley.

In the song, he's in love with a woman who leaves a trail of romantic destruction. He knows he's going to get hurt so he asks her to save him - from her.

"'Save Me' was the first of the originals that was written for the album," Stanley said in a Songfacts interview. "I love the trick of the chorus: 'Why don't you save me... save me from you.'"
  • The classic soul songs Stanley had been listening to for decades rubbed off on him when he wrote this song. "We're always influenced by the music that inspired us," he told Songfacts. "A painter is influenced by the artists that inspired them. Then, it's a matter of proportions: how much you use and how much you combine.

So, there's elements in the song that are familiar because their roots are in great songs. Many of the great songs that came out of Motown were familiar in that they resembled or had roots in other songs from Motown, so for me it was a matter of carrying that over, and that was kind of easy because I was in the midst of shows with Soul Station, socializing and hanging out, and recording. So, it wasn't a stretch to be writing those tunes – they just fell in with the old classics."
