Songfacts®:

  • "Shades Of Blue" is a soulful suburban drama where Weller reflects on life's most precious things.

    Spend all your life
    Just to find out
    All that matters
    Is close to you
  • Weller enhances the dreamy piano track's positive message of familial connection by collaborating with his daughter Leah. The musician told Uncut magazine he "already had the verses, but I was really stuck on the chorus and bridge."

Weller was playing the piano during a family get-together at his Black Barn studios in Surrey when Leah "just started singing" the chorus. Weller did the vocal that week with Leah on backing vocals. "I don't really over think these things," he said. "We just get our hands dirty and see what happens."
  • Leah Weller's mother is former Style Council singer Dee C Lee. An artist in her own right, Leah has contributed to several of her father's songs, including "Find The Torch, Burn The Plans" and "Be Happy Children."
