Songfacts®:

  • Why wait until later when you can have a good time now? That's the question on Payton Smith's mind in this upbeat country anthem about seizing the moment with a six pack and an old six-string. Smith wrote the song during the coronavirus lockdown, a time when most of the world was eager for a carefree escape.

"That was during a period when I was really missing playing live," Smith told Songfacts in 2021. "I was craving the melodies and the energy of what you feel and sing on stage. I told my co-writers I just wanted to write something with high energy and a song that can make you escape from the world. It's subject matter that you've heard before, but I think that it's important to have songs that everyone can relate to."
  • Smith, a Louisiana native who released his debut EP in 2019, wrote this with Nashville songwriters/producers Bart Butler ("Just To See You Smile") and Corey Crowder ("I Love My Country"). Crowder is also a recording artist, who released the single "My Poor Mama" in 2020.
  • This was released alongside Smith's "I'm Fine."
