Songfacts®:

  • This song takes inspiration from John Lennon's infamous lost weekend in early 1970s Los Angeles with May Pang. Yorn explained to UK's The Sun that the song is "an ode to the desire to break out of the simple confines of one's upbringing, while also serving as a cautionary tale about the diminishing returns of excess."
  • The song's video, filmed by New Zealand's Maria Ines Manchego, focuses on a bullied suburban teen who takes his frustration out on his drum kit in his garage. "I didn't want the video to be sad," Yorn told The Independent. "Sure he takes some beef from these douchebags, but he goes home, rocks out and at the end of the day the girl throws him a bone."
