  • This was written by the American soft rock musician Bill LaBounty and Nashville songwriter and Restless Heart pianist Dave Innis. In his Songfacts interview, Innis said the pair wrote the song specifically for Peter Cetera.
  • Bill LaBounty was originally of the band Fat Chance, before becoming a solo artist. He is best known for the song "This Night Won't Last Forever," which was a Top 20 pop hit for Michael Johnson in 1979.

    Dave Innis started off as a staff writer at Warner Brothers for whom his biggest success was The Pointer Sisters hit "Dare Me." In 1984 he co-founded the country group Restless Heart.
