Songfacts®:

  • This song was originally recorded in 1986 during the So sessions, but wasn't included on the final tracklisting. The Art-Rock tune was included on the deluxe box 25th anniversary limited edition in the form of an unfinished demo. 12 months later, Gabriel released a completely revamped version of the song mixed by studio vet Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Pearl Jam) with additional overdubs by the ex-Genesis frontman and his long term collaborator, guitarist David Rhodes. Gabriel said, regarding the new version: "When So drew to a close I didn't feel the song was delivering in the way I had hoped, so decided not to include it. When we were reviewing all the material from that time, we wanted to take a fresh look at it and get it finished. I always liked the track and very much enjoyed the playing on it, especially the energy of the drums."
