  • In this heartfelt country hit, Vassar depicts a day in the life of a young married couple struggling to keep their romantic spark alive while raising kids and dealing with overdue bills and broken appliances. But it's "just another day in paradise" for the narrator, who wouldn't have it any other way.

"It was definitely a snapshot into my life at that moment," Vassar told Songfacts. "It's funny, the cool thing about it is that people are always like, 'You know what, man, you took a picture of my life.' And I think whenever you write a song like that, that sort of relates to yourself and everybody else, you've really got a magical song. And I think that's what happened - that moment in time was captured."
  • The couple has to improvise an at-home dinner date with "Domino's pizza in the candlelight." That lyric earned Vassar years of free slices from the grateful pizza chain. "I've actually had a lot of Domino's franchises just send me pizza, which I love," he said. "I'm like, 'Thanks for the pizza,' and they're like, 'Thanks for the song.'"
  • This was Vassar's first #1 hit on the Country chart as a singer. Before landing his own record deal, he penned chart-toppers for Jo Dee Messina ("Bye Bye," "I'm Alright") and Alan Jackson ("Right On The Money"), among other hits.
  • Phil Vassar and co-writer Craig Wiseman were both having one of those mornings: Vassar woke up to nearly a foot of water in his kitchen after the washing machine broke, while Wiseman barely made it because his car was acting up. Vassar recalled to Taste of Country Nights host Evan Paul: "We just kind of took a deep breath and said, 'Eh, just another day in paradise. Let's write that.' Boom!"
  • "Just Another Day In Paradise" was Vassar's first collaboration with Nashville songwriter Craig Wiseman. The pair went on to write a handful of songs together, including Vassar's tunes "American Child" and "Bobbi With An I."
