Songfacts®:

  • Piko-Taro is the alias of Japanese comic and DJ Daimaou Kosaka. His moniker is based off Borsalino, a character from Japan's One Piece manga-anime series. This bizarre song about fusing a pen with an apple and a pineapple is Piko-Tarro debut single. It originated as a music video released on YouTube on August 25, 2016, before going viral, thanks to its catchy beat and simple dance routine.
  • This 45-second-long novelty song became the shortest ever single to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 when it debuted at #77 in the chart dated October 2016. The previous track to hold the record was The Womenfolk's 1 minute and 2 second "Little Boxes," which peaked at #83 in 1964.

The song held the record for shortest song ever to chart on the Hot 100 until December 2020, when Kid Cudi's 37-second long "Beautiful Trip" debuted on the tally at #100.
