Songfacts®:

  • This bassline house club anthem was recorded by producers H Two O together with vocalists Platnum. H Two O are DJ's Solution and Oz aka Selim and Simon. Platnum are Hip-Hop/R&B/Garage vocalists Aron, Mina and Michelle.
  • After "What's It Gonna Be" became popular in the clubs, dance label Hard2Beat gave it a national release. It became the second bassline tune, after T2 featuring Jodie's "Heartbroken," to achieve mainstream success in the UK.
  • The Nottingham duo originally recorded this when Selim was lodging at noted local music venue the Golden Fleece. The track's vocals were recorded in a toilet cubicle there. Simon explained to the Nottingham Evening Post: "The mics were set up in the toilet because it made a good recording booth."
