Songfacts®:

  • This stark piano ballad finds Plested searching for the right words to confess his romantic feelings. The singer-songwriter told Songfacts the tune was inspired by one of his favorite movies, 500 Days of Summer. The romantic comedy is about a girl (Zooey Deschanel) who doesn't believe in true love, and the boy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who tries to change her mind. Plested said: "There's a moment where Summer says, 'I've never told anybody this before...' I instantly thought, that would be the best first line to a chorus ever!"
