Songfacts®:

  • The first single from the Michigan rockers Pop Evil, "Hero" takes aim at folks who turned on the band once they had some success. "We'd been dealing with some things with people that were trying to help the band early on in our career," lead singer Leigh Kakaty said in his Songfacts interview. "And once we got our management and record deals, in the early days, they backstabbed us. So dealing with the business. It was kind of like, 'Who's your hero now?'"
  • Directed by the filmmaker Jason Honeycutt, the video plays out a story (complete with dialogue) where a shady business deal goes down. The band gets to do some stage fighting in addition to the typical warehouse performance scenes.
