Songfacts®:

  • Here, Pop Smoke raps about his lack of commitment in relationships. The drill rapper explores the whole of his vocal range on his verse and hook, during which he explains to a woman that she is just his "bae for the night."
  • "The Babies" (Lil Baby and DaBaby) join Pop Smoke on the track. DaBaby describes getting intimate with a lady in one of his luxurious cars, while Lil Baby spits some braggadocios bars about his wealthy lifestyle.
  • Lil Baby and DaBaby have a long history of collaborations, which include DaBaby's Top 40 hit "Toes" and the remix of Future and Drake's "Life Is Good." However, "For the Night" marks the first time either of them worked with Pop Smoke.
  • Wylo, Mike Dean, Daniel Moras Raab, Palaze, Jess Jackson and CashMoneyAP are listed as the producers. The song originated with Pop Smoke finding an early version of Danish producer Palaze and Swiss beatmaker Wylo's instrumentation on YouTube. Mike Dean, Daniel Moras Raab, CashMoneyAP and Jess Jackson then recreated it.
  • When Pop stepped into the booth to deliver his vocals, he wowed his team with his singing, rather than gangster rapping like he usually did.
  • The biggest challenge in completing the track came from mixing down Lil Baby and DaBaby's contributions, two MCs whose nasally vocal tones are the complete opposite to Pop Smoke's. Longtime Kanye West collaborator Mike Dean helped Jess Jackson with its mastering.
