Songfacts®:

  • Here, the late Pop Smoke reflects on his heartfelt love for his romantic interest.

Look, baby, I said I ain't gon' front
You got my heart beating so fast to words I can't pronounce
And I be getting the chills every time I feel your touch

It's likely Pop smoke is rapping about Yummy Yellow, who was his girlfriend at the time of his death. A model with a large social media presence (her Instagram site has over 120,000 followers) Yummy Yellow also runs a kids boutique and has a daughter Aaliyah from a prior relationship. She and Pop kept their romance private, and he never name-checked her in his rhymes.
  • "What You Know Bout Love" first leaked to the internet in late February 2020 shortly after the murder of Pop Smoke. The rapper's estate later included it on his posthumous Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon album. The song began climbing the charts after going viral on Tik Tok.
  • Pop Smoke wrote the song with the help of the Boston, Massachusetts producer Tashim Zen, aka IamTash. This is the beatmaker's first placement with a major artist.
  • The song prominently samples Ginuwine's 2001 R&B hit "Differences" throughout.
  • The Oliver Cannon-directed video features footage of Pop Smoke recording the track and mixing with friends and family, plus TikToks from fans performing the song's dance challenge.

Lyrical Lemonade's Oliver Cannon also filmed Pop Smoke's "Aim For The Moon" clip.
