Songfacts®:

  • "Allergic" finds Post Malone in an on-off relationship where both he and the girl are drug users.

    Wasted on Sunday
    Erase you on Monday
    Allergic, allergic
    Gave in by Friday
    Went straight back to sideways
    Allergic, allergic

Post can't quite work out his feelings about his lover. Though he keeps returning to their toxic relationship, she brings out the worst in him.

    So sad, but true
You're friends with all my demons
The only one that sees them

However, the girl doesn't see that she's dragging him down.

    So sad, but true
    Gave a hundred million reasons
But why can't you believe them?
    Too bad for you
  • The song was produced by Post's go-to producer Louis Bell, and Korean-American Brian Bell. The pair also helmed Hollywood's Bleeding's title track and "Goodbyes." Malone told Spotify in a track-by track:

"This has such a unique, cool, doo-woppy vibe and I don't think anyone has made something like this for a long time. Sat down with the team to get the production right and make everything fit really to the point where it was weird and crazy. I think that's important."
