Songfacts®:

  • Postman Pat first saw the light of day in 1981, the creation of British author John Cunliffe. Cunliffe had worked as a teacher and had also lived in rural Cumbria, which provided the inspiration for the TV series. The preschool children's character was immensely popular, and was exported worldwide being dubbed in Hebrew, Japanese, Polish, and Spanish, among others. It has also, predictably, spawned a cottage industry of posters, books, and even crockery.

The theme song was composed by Bryan Daly, and catches the spirit of the series in much the same way as the Ron Roker theme song for Rupert. It was sung by Ken Barrie, who also narrated the series. >>>
