Songfacts®:

  • Co-written by brothers Chris & Tino Troy, and Paul Williamson, "Johnny Cool" was the B-side of the band's debut single, "Captured City."

Along with the A-side, this uptempo track set the template for most of their subsequent recordings. The Praying Mantis character Johnny Cool does not appear to be connected in any way with the 1963 film Johnny Cool, the recording by Little Peggy March, the Johnny Cool character from the Thin Lizzy track "Showdown", nor with any literary character of the same name. >>>
