Songfacts®:

  • Frontman Bobby Gillespie (from Q magazine October 2008): "The song Exterminator is about drug culture in Britain, how you're not rebelling against anything, you're conforming. I was looking at myself, and mates that had really great minds and suddenly they were shutting themselves down."
  • Gillespie also told Q magazine that XTRMNTR was, "more than a protest album, it's about psychosis, about damage. The damage I've seen and the damage in me. It's my favorite record."
  • The XTRMNTR album was the last ever LP release for the British independent label Creation Records. Their most successful artist was Oasis who released the best selling British album of the 1990s (What's the Story) Morning Glory? on Creation.
