Songfacts®:

  • The song title is an acronym for "Sorry N---a I'm Tryna Come Home," and Pusha re-enacts in his verses a series of phone conversations from an imprisoned friend. His buddy has elected to talk to the authorities to shed time off his sentence, thereby breaking the street's no-snitching credo. The Virginia rhymer told MTV News: "I had someone dear to me call me and basically tell me, 'Yo, just don't ever talk to me again... I love you, but don't ever talk to me again. We ain't never gonna talk again, don't worry about it."

Pusha added that he transformed the real-life situation into an actual song after a conversation with his producer pal Pharrell Williams. "I was just telling him about it, telling him about the conversation and he was like, 'That's the song right there.' He was like, 'as a matter of fact, that's how you're ending your album, right there,'" he said.
  • Pharrell Williams supplied the song's beat after Pusha gave the producer Notorious B.I.G. records like "Long Kiss Goodnight," "Somebody's Gotta Die" and "My Downfall" to give context on where he wanted to go musically. Williams also delivers the song's hook.
