• Kevin Quinlan has been a professional musician and songwriter since 1983, operating as both a solo artist and bass guitarist for UK rock outfit Ugly Mother. As well as his music career, Quinlan is an established British actor on TV and Film.
• "Wrestle With The Angels" is Quinlan's first recording with producer Ru Cook (Quireboys), and it was released on March 14, 2010. Kevin told us that the song came about when he was chatting with Ru about some spiritual experiences, after the producer had made the comment that he was surprised that Kevin wasn't recording more material that reflected his Christian faith. Kevin recalled to Ru one particular episode when he was attending Stoneleigh Bible Week: "I heard angels singing at 2.40 am over the tent I was sleeping in," he said. "I heard them for about 20 minutes singing. Next morning many other people on that campsite related the same experience." A light bulb went off in Ru's head. Fifteen years previously he'd written a song that he'd never used where the lyrics talk about "wrestling with angels." He told Kevin, "I've got a song for you."
• Though the song was originally written about romantic love, the lyrical content, which according to Kevin talks of "man seeking forgiveness, but reassured with receiving unconditional love," can easily also be interpreted in a faith context as well.
• The song was recorded at Ru's Lost Boys Studio in Cranfield. It features Ru Cook on guitar/keyboards, Quinlan on bass/piano and vocals, Gerri Allen on backing vocals and Fleur on drums.
