Songfacts®:

  • In "Vitamins," Qveen Herby shares her secrets for healthy living: working out, sleeping in, taking vitamins.

"'Vitamins' started as almost a joke," she said in a Songfacts interview. "I was like, 'Wow, literally nobody is talking about self-care.' Like it was not sexy to talk about taking care of yourself. But I've had a lot of people coming up to me lately, since I've had Qveen Herby and killed Karmin, and they're like, 'Sis, you look so healthy. You look so good, you seem really happy.' And I'm like, 'I am! I've been working out.'"
  • Qveen Herby is the alter ego of Amy Noonan, half of the duo Karmin along with her husband, Nick, who stayed on as her producer when they killed Karmin in 2017 and introduced Herby. When Karmin signed to Epic Records in 2011, they put the pedal to the metal with a hectic rhythm of touring and recording. They were engaged before they signed the deal, but couldn't find the time to get married. Leaving the label in 2014 was daring, but it ended up being good for their physical and emotional health.

"I've been getting a lot of sleep, which I didn't get when I was in Karmin," Herby explained. "We were just really busy for about five years, like, I can sleep when I'm dead. But then eventually you are killing yourself - you do have to sleep. So, I've been working out, sleeping in and taking vitamins. I'm on vitamin D supplements, I've got all these herbs, and I take lavender baths. I was like, 'Wow, this song is really speaking to my current state of mind.'"
  • Qveen (when she was Amy) had to do some choreographed dancing when she made the Karmin video for "Acapella." "Vitamins" was the first Qveen Herby video where she did routines with dancers. Her husband/producer Nick directed it.
  • Vision board and a mission
