Songfacts®:

  • R5 is a Los Angeles pop-rock band consisting of the four Lynch siblings and family friend Ellington Ratliff. Rocky Lynch and Ellington Ratliff came up with the music for their their Sometime Last Night album, while vocalist Ross Lynch was busy on the sets of Austin & Ally (he is Austin) and a feature film.
  • This song with a disco vibe was the first one that the band really liked and it meant scrapping much of their previous material. "I think it was at that moment that we realized we actually have the capability and the skill set to just write the whole record," Ross Lynch told Billboard magazine. "And then we just kept writing songs and beating off songs that we previously had. We had a checklist; We'd be like, 'Alright, 'Dark Side' is better than this song, so it'll take that song's spot, and then this song can take this other song's spot.' We basically worked our way down and replaced the whole record."
  • Guitarist Rocky Lynch commented to Artist Direct of the track: "That song is cool lyrically because there is a line in the first verse 'Leave out your famous dream.' In LA, every person you meet and have a casual conversation with, and ask, 'What do you do?' The answer is, 'I act, I dance, I sing.' Everyone in LA wants to be famous.'"
