Songfacts®:

  • Rachel Platten married former lawyer Kevin Lazan in a 2012 Jewish ceremony. This is a love song to her husband. She explained in a Wildfire track-by-track that he was "going through a really tough time... and I couldn't be there all the time and he was hurting and I wanted to be there more."

Platten added that she needed her husband to know "that he didn't have to keep being so strong, that it was okay to crash, and that I could carry him because he'd certainly carried me enough." So she is saying, "You don't have to be Superman, you don't have to hold the world in your hands, you've already shown me that you can."
  • Platten wrote the song with songwriters Lindy Robbins (Demi Lovato's " Skyscraper," Jason DeRulo's "It Girl") and Chris DeStefano (Luke Bryan's "That's My Kind of Night," Carrie Underwood's "Something in the Water").
